Introduction

Welcome to this WebQuest!!

Do you enjoy spending time on the computer? Do you get sick of hearing your teacher talk, talk, talk in front of the classroom? Are you tired of using flashcards in an attempt to learn your facts??

Then practicing your facts through games on the computer will be just the ticket for you! I hope you have prepared for your upcoming adventure through multiple multiplication games by practicing your facts at home. You are going to attack, and eventually conquer, your basic multiplication facts through the games and activities that you will complete.

Only you can help yourself now. Get ready!

The Task

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to embark on an adventure through the many multiplication obstacles ahead of you. You will play different games and activities in order to work your way through learning your multiplication facts 0-9 by memory. No more counting on fingers, adding numbers over and over again, or skip counting your way up. Please work through the given activities in any order. If a game is too easy for you at the level it begins, please feel free to make it harder (if there is an option to do so).

At the end of these activities you will hopefully have a better knowledge of your facts, and be faster at answering them, in order to pass your classroom timed tests with ease.

The Process

You are now to the fun part – the activities!!

Have fun as you work though each task I have set out for you. Be sure to read all the directions before clicking on the activity.

Take your time and do them in any order that you wish. At the end of each numbered adventure (each activity), please call an adult over to initial and fill out your evaluation sheet that you did as you were directed. An adult will only initial your sheet if you did what you were asked to do and showed them your work on the activity.

Adventure 1: After clicking on the link, enter your name where it says “Player Name” and click “Start Game.” You may either type the answer in from the keyboard and hit enter after you input the answer, or you may click the answer numbers on the screen with your mouse and then click “check answer. You have completed the adventure when you answer at least 13 questions correct in the one minute time limit.

Math Facts Speed Challenge

Adventure 2: After clicking on the link, click the button that says “Mixed” and enter your name in the box. Then click on the start hand. Complete the problems by typing in the answer and clicking enter. You have to complete 20 problems in one minute with 85%. If you finish and it simply says “Time’s Up” then you need to click “Main” and try again until you can get 20 problems done in the time limit. You can ask an adult to type for you if you are unable to type quickly.

Are you a math magician?

Adventure 3: After you click the link, click “Begin.” Then choose numbers “0-9.” Then choose the knight you would like to have, your choice. Complete the fifty problems by clicking on the cloud with the correct answer. You must answer 35 of 50 problems correct to complete this adventure.

Flight of the Knight

Adventure 4: Click on the link below. You answer the question by typing the answer and typing enter or clicking on “swing!” Play until you have 20 runs. If you get three outs, the game will end. Close the window and click on the below link again. Play until you have 20 runs and less than 3 outs in one game.

Math Baseball

Adventure 5: The game begins as soon as you click the link below. A multiplication fact will appear in the bottom right corner of the screen. You simply click on the answer on the MATHO board. The goal is to play until you get 5 answers in a row to get MATHO. When you get MATHO, it will flash the word on your screen. Call an adult over to check. You must get MATHO without missing 6 or more problems. If you miss more than 6, click new game and try again.

M-A-T-H-O (multiplication BINGO)

Awesome job!!
{You did it!}

You have completed all five parts of this multiplication adventure! Make sure your evaluation sheet is completely filled out before turning it in to your teacher.

You are now more ready to pass your classroom time tests! Feel free to come back and play these games again to get extra practice!

Practice makes perfect you know!

Evaluation

{Think!}

As mentioned in an earlier section, there really is no official test to grade you on your performance of this WebQuest. You are to turn in your evaluation sheet (click here to print a copy) to receive your grade. Your evaluation sheet needs to be completed by an adult at the end of each adventure. Be sure to call an adult over to see the end of each adventure so they can properly fill the form out and initial it. You will be evaluated on this form, as well as:

·        How well you kept on task while using the computer.

·        Your ability to follow directions.

·        If you followed through with the activities as directed in the Process section of this WebQuest.

Conclusion

Excellent work!!!

You have now successfully completed at least five adventures of extra practice with your multiplication facts!

Now you should know all your facts!

{Hmm...}
