Technology Mission and Vision Statements: To provide all students with the academic, technological and problem solving skills essential for personal development, responsible citizenship, and life long learning. We will provide a respectful nurturing, and stimulating environment through an educational partnership among family, school, and community with an innovative curriculum that meets the challenges of tomorrow.
The
Letter From The Director:
Technology is an instrumental tool, which when infused in the WASD will enhance the overall educational system/processes. Educators will be able to communicate more freely and share ideas/lessons learned/results across a wide array of platforms. Technology will allow educators/teachers/students/parents the ability to streamline processes, which will allow more time for teaching, creating new initiatives/ideas. The ability to share knowledge/progress will be enhanced because of the overall improvement in communication between students, teachers, administrators, and parents. Email/ LANS(local area networks)/WANS(wide area networks)/ Web servers will allow high-speed communication. The ability to share, not only thoughts/ideas/results, but the ability to share text, graphics, music and video will open up a world of tools which will enhance the learning environment utilizing all of the students senses. Multimedia presentations/projects will be shared throughout the district. They will also serve as a digital library for future learning projects. This will enable students and educators to not only realize where they are now, but where they have been and how much they have improved. Trends/analysis can be developed and studied for current and future projects by keeping a data warehouse of all projects, lessons and initiatives. By creating a high-tech, state of the art infrastructure along with a continuous training program on it’s use’s and benefits, student/teacher/administrators will have the tools and skills needed to not only meet the Pennsylvania Academic standards but the ability to exceed them. The academic standards set by the Pennsylvania Department of Education will be incorporated into WASD curriculum. This will ensure compliance and allow for a systematic approach, which will enable all students/teachers to reach their full potential. By following the standards of the PDE, students will ensure they are ready for the next level of higher learning or have the necessary skills to enter the workforce. This will open up windows of opportunities allowing them to reach their goals.
